VisDat WebGIS

VisDat WebGIS

Background

VisDat GmbH has been developing a WebGIS system since 2010. This system is used by numerous state and federal offices in Germany as well as by international project partners. It offers an ideal platform for project-accompanying working groups by enabling them to interactively analyse selected data statistically as well as spatially and temporally.

The system supports the members of the working groups in developing a deeper understanding of the system behaviour in their respective model areas. Using the interactive analysis tools, current results can be discussed, checked for plausibility and adjusted if necessary. These results are also accessible to the interested public, which ensures transparency and participation.

To summarise, the VisDat WebGIS offers a powerful platform for collaborative data analysis and interpretation. This not only promotes scientific collaboration, but also the involvement of the public in relevant environmental issues.

Challenge

Analysing and providing extensive databases in high temporal and spatial resolution.

Solution

  • Comparative space-time observations
  • Aggregation at spatial levels (districts, federal states, ...)
  • High-performance data formats
  • Integrability into existing IT landscapes
  • Open source

Practical examples

stoffbilanz_viewer

viewer.stoffbilanz.de

The web application publishes the results of many years of continuous modelling work on soil erosion by water and sediment, nitrogen and phosphorus inputs in Saxony's river basins using the STOFFBILANZ model.

stoffeintraege bild

stoffeintraege-more.de

The WebGIS portal contains nationwide information on soil erosion by water and wind, sediment input into water bodies and the input of particle-bound phosphorus using the MoRE model.

whh bild

whh-kliwes.de

The web application provides Saxony-wide data on the water balance both for the current state and for climate scenarios up to the year 2100. The data is used, among other things, as a basis for the targeted, regional development of adaptation strategies and measures in agriculture, forestry and water management to the expected consequences of climate change in Saxony.

whh bild

gwn-sachsen

The GWN Viewer is a tool for visualising, analysing and providing water balance data. The aim is to effectively support the estimation of water balance variables, such as groundwater recharge.

whh bild

Messstellenviewer FGG Elbe

The monitoring station viewer visualises quality data and discharge data from selected monitoring stations as well as result data from modelling with the MONERIS model.
